Observers of art must understand that when experiencing art, they are part of a grand Newtonian equation.
Just as the white light from the sun (input data) hits the prism (filter) and is split into the rainbow spectrum (output data), the artist takes culture, society, and the world at large (input data), crams it through the lens of ART (filter), and the audience’s experience IS the output.
Art is, put simply, a lens through which to see the world.
Using toys, self fabricated mechanisms, and employing recognizable objects of utility, I hope to enable my audience to bring a re-examination to the frequently perverse and absurd aspects of our culture. Through kinetics, familiar cultural icons, and a playful sensibility, I hope to make my work interactive, accessible, and exciting to a wide audience of all ages.
